Military Museum of Fortress Nymphea

The Military Museum of Fortress Nymphea is located 17 km away from Komotini and operates since 2000 in the portico of the eponymous fortress. Because the museum is in a military area, the visit to the exhibit is allowed upon approval of the 29th Infantry Brigade (Komotini, tel +302531022691), which provides a guide for the museum exhibits and the Gallery, on daily basis from 9:30 to 14:30 am. Every Sunday, from 9:00 to 13:30 am the entrance to the museum is free. On the first Sunday of April; celebrations are held to honor the dead of the battle of the Fort ,which was held from 6 to 8 April 1941 and during which 380 fighters raised strong resistance on the German Army Corps, which eventually managed to enter the Greek’s territories, after Greece capitulated with the invaders. To arrive at the museum you have to follow the asphalt road Komotini -Nymphea. In the winter, there might be ice in some parts of the road, which makes the transition dangerous. Unfortunately, there is no infrastructure for people with disabilities.
